My name is Steve Brown and I practice 'Present-Centred Therapy'.

Present-Centred Therapy leads to a more satisfying life by allowing life to be lived in the present moment, by paying attention to the interconnectedness of all aspects of life, and by cultivating compassion and acceptance towards ourselves and others.

I use meditation practices in therapy that develop mindfulness, compassion and acceptance.

I teach clients meditation and mindfulness and encourage them to practice as an aid to being more present in therapy and in everyday life.

Current research has shown that mindfulness meditation effectively:

  • Assists in the treatment of stress, anxiety and depression
  • Helps manage emotional and physical pain
  • Decreases social phobia and distress contagion
  • Improves functioning of the immune system
  • Increases optimism and a sense of well being


I have a Medicare Provder number - rebates are available for individual counselling, and for the meditation courses with a referral from a doctor through the Better Access Programme.

SHAKING ZEN: October '16

Steve is conducting a 7 week class on working with stress, anxiety, depression & trauma using mindfulness (Zen) meditation, and Tre (Trauma & Tension Releasing Exercises. Starting on 27 October 2016 in Malvern, on Thursday evenings, 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Download the course flier here
